Our customers can carbon sequestrate their carbon emissions resulting from use of rental cars from Europcar Iceland through tree planting in cooperation with Kolviður – the Iceland Carbon Fund.

During the online booking process or when returning your rental car, one or more trees can be purchased for ISK 220 each. One tree sequestrates 0,1-ton CO2.

Carbon Sequestration Criteria:

 

Passenger cars

Average emissions (Toyota Aygo, Kia Ceed Sportwagon) estimated 90-100 gr. CO2/ km.

1 tree sequestrates 0,1-ton CO2 = 900 - 1000 km driving

2 trees sequestrate 0,2-ton CO2 = 1800 - 2000 km driving

3 trees sequestrate 0,3-ton CO2 = 2700 - 3000 km driving

 

SUVs and larger cars

Average emissions of SUVs and larger diesel cars estimated 130 – 200 gr. CO2/ km.

1 tree sequestrates 0,1-ton CO2 = 500 - 750 km driving

2 trees sequestrate 0,2-ton CO2 = 1000 - 1500 km driving

3 trees sequestrate 0,3-ton CO2 = 1500 - 2250 km driving
